Meet Coach KD

Hard Work and Humility
Kendrick was born in Natchez, Mississippi and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended and played basketball at Clements High School where hard work was never a question and learned fast that Michael Jordan's quote, "I've always believed that if you put in the work the results will come," couldn't be more evident in his life at that time. He made 1st Team All-City and State. When he graduated from Clements in 2002, Kendrick went on to play at the collegiate level at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville, but found his abilities really begin to soar when he transferred to the University of North Texas where he earned the titles of Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year, All Sun Belt Second Team, and assisted his team in winning the 2007 Sun Belt Conference Champion. In college, Kendrick learned from some of the best coaches and teammates about how who you are as an athlete and a person are one in the same. Here Kendrick always vowed to stay humble. Realizing that his abilities are a gift, and that after all of his accomplishments staying grounded is the best way to handle it all.

Dedication
After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, Kendrick began a professional career in Wels, Austria where he realized that dedication wasn't just about committing yourself to your dreams and goals; it is about sacrifice, as well. When he had to leave everyone and everything he loves behind to pursue his only passion, it became ever so evident that his dreams were coming true.

Determination
Now Kendrick is an Athletic Director, Physical Education Teacher and Basketball Coach at Aristoi Classical Academy where he enjoys teaching the youth about sports, fitness and nutrition. He also is the AAU Basketball Coach of the Katy Shooting Stars where he enjoys working with older youth and helping to groom their athletics abilities. Giving back is the natural next step in Kendrick's life, he is determined after coaching children ages 7-18 for 8 years now that these 6 principles have to be his priority in coaching his athletes and students. These principles are the ones that helped him achieve his goals and made him the man he is today.

Integrity
Kendrick attributes most of his success to the foundation that his family has laid for him. He says that integrity is the most important of them all because it is the basis of having good moral character. He prides himself on being a great father, son, brother and friend.

Principles First Skills Academy

Since being in the Katy area, he has met some great families and began developing his company. Kendrick provides individual and group training sessions for kids ages 7-18. His programs are all developed around perseverance, dedication, hard work, determination, integrity and humility. His organization provides kids of all ages and talent levels the opportunity to develop all aspects of their game, goals and character.
